Sunday Papers – ‘Killing spree is terror attack’ – Afghans flee

Sunday’s front pages are dominated by the news Plymouth gunman Jake Davison had his gun licence returned to him weeks before he went on a mass shooting – killing five people.

Elsewhere, the Taliban is also featured on the front pages, as they continue to gain control and Afghans flee.

Plymouth Shooting: ‘Rethink UK’s already strict gun control laws’

The Sun on Sunday is angry that his social media profiles weren’t checked, because of what police considered to be an “invasion of privacy”.

The paper asks: “What could be a greater invasion than killing innocent people, including a three-year-old girl?”

The Sunday Mirror says that if ever there was a case to spur an urgent rethink of the UK’s already strict gun control laws, this is it.

The Sunday People praises the “magnificent, brave response” of officers to the shooting on Thursday, but questions why they were needed in the first place, describing Davison as a “time bomb”.

Sunday Express – ‘Killing Spree A Terror Attack’

The Sunday Express says experts have said the extremist, women-hating “incel” community should be treated like terrorists, as it emerged killer Jake Davison is being celebrated by members of the group. Davison shot dead five people in an attack on Thursday evening in the Keyham area of Plymouth.
