The Golden Globes might have attracted countless celebrities to the red carpet, however there was a notable absence, with Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner unable to attend.
The actor has played John Dutton III, the patriarch of the Dutton family who owns and operates the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana.
This year was the first that Kevin, 67, had been nominated for a Golden Globe for this series after starring for five seasons, and he only went and won the top gong.
However, the flooding in Santa Barbara kept him from accepting the award in person.
In a video posted to Instagram before the event, Kevin apologised for not being able to attend with his wife Christine Baumgartner.
‘I’m so sorry for everyone who might have been tuning in to watch the Golden Globes,’ he said.
‘Chris and I aren’t going to be able to be there. Yesterday we had to pull the kids out of school in Santa Barbara.
‘This is the second time in five years that the town freeways flooded out, and we found ourselves on the wrong side of town, and we couldn’t get back last night. We couldn’t even get back to the house this morning in time with the freeways closed.’
He added that there was ‘nobody sadder than us that we can’t be there at the Golden Globes’.
However, he did take the time to thank the Yellowstone cast and crew, saying that he was ‘so sorry’ he couldn’t be there.

‘We’re gonna sit at the television and see what happens.’
Nominated alongside Jeff Bridges (The Old Man), Diego Luna (Andor), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Adam Scott (Severance), this marked Yellowstone’s first win at the Golden Globes.
