Kate Hudson shared her take on the ‘nepotism baby’ debate that sparked a rise out of celebrities from famous families on social media.
The discourse began after a New York magazine article made the rounds connecting the dots between today’s famous faces and their parents that once graced Hollywood’s red carpets.
Offering that hard work shines through despite a helpful lineage, the 43-year-old actress is the daughter of Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn, 77, and singer Bill Hudson, 73.
Slamming claims a parent in the public eye equals a successful career in the limelight for their offspring, the Knives Out 2 star was adamant ‘it doesn’t matter’ where you come from when it comes to talent.
She told The Independent, ‘I don’t care where you come from, or what your relationship to the business is – if you work hard and you kill it, it doesn’t matter.
‘The nepotism thing, I mean… I don’t really care. I look at my kids and we’re a storytelling family.

Carrying on, Kate compared her industry to that of others where she claimed nepotism was more prevalent.
The star revealed: ‘I see it in business way more than I see it in Hollywood.
‘Sometimes I’ve been in business meetings where I’m like, wait, “Whose child is this? Like, this person knows nothing!”‘

The topic of ‘nepo babies’ provoked reactions from other second-generation stars including the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, and Lottie Moss, 24.
Jamie Lee – daughter to acting icon Janet Leigh – posted an Instagram that let her feelings on the subject be known.
Underneath old snaps of the Halloween actress and her parents, the icon penned: ‘I have been a professional actress since I was 19 years old so that makes me an OG Nepo Baby.

‘It’s curious how we immediately make assumptions and snide remarks that someone related to someone else who is famous in their field for their art, would somehow have no talent whatsoever.
‘I have suited up and shown up for all different kinds of work with thousands of thousands of people and every day I’ve tried to bring integrity and professionalism and love and community and art to my work. I am not alone. There are many of us. Dedicated to our craft. Proud of our lineage. Strong in our belief in our right to exist.’
Model and OnlyFans creator Lottie Moss – sister to supermodel Kate Moss – also weighed in on her supposed birthright on Twitter before allegedly leaving the app due to controversy over her ‘nepo baby’ opinions.
Part of her tirade against naysayers read: ‘Life isn’t fair – if you put your mind to something you can accomplish anything ! So instead of being negative about other peoples success go and try and create your own ! [sic]’
Meeting her comments with outrage and accusations of playing down nepotism in the arts, fans were quick to criticise the star’s outburst, shortly after which her account was nowhere to be found.
