Kate Garraway was almost every parent as she fought against the odds to find the perfect Christmas tree – and get it home in one piece to put a smile on her children’s faces.
The Good Morning Britain presenter is preparing to spend Christmas with her children Darcey, 16, and Billy, 13, and husband Derek Draper, who continues to battle various health issues triggered by Covid nearly three years ago.
As the countdown to the big day gets well underway, Kate, 55, was on a mission to find a Christmas tree but didn’t realise she would need the help of many others to get it home.
The TV presenter shared photos on Instagram of her smiling broadly while posing beside her tree alongside friendly helpers. After finally getting it inside the house, Darcey and Billy couldn’t wait to pose in front of it once it was decorated with all the trimmings, including colourful tinsel and baubles.
Sharing an insight into her struggles, Kate wrote: ‘So they say it takes a village to raise a child .. but how many does it take to “raise” a Christmas 🎄 tree.
‘Well in my case ( altogether now sing along 🎼🎶🎵) … “5 exasperated shop workers, 4 helpful neighbours , 3 frazzled parents , 2 over excited kids & NOT a partridge in a pear tree , but a #peugeot308sw with a surprisingly large boot – even my own mother didn’t believe I could get a 6 foot tree in but I knew my Percy Peugeot wouldn’t let me down!!’

She added: ‘Swipe right to see finished result ! So worth it to see the kids so happy – at last ready for #christmas – well “ish” . #pluginhybrid #peugeotuk #itreallyisbeginningtolookalotlikechristmas.’
Kate recently revealed that Derek, 55, is facing a lengthy wait to receive treatment for his long Covid.

The former political lobbyist was struck down by the virus in March 2020 and was placed in a coma to help his body recover from the symptoms. He was discharged from hospital the following year but has continued to battle with the damage the Covid did to his body, including his heart and lungs.
During a recent episode of GMB, Kate explained: ‘I know with my own experience with Derek.
‘Finally got into the long Covid clinic after a year-and-a-half to an amazing group of people that are working on the impact of Covid damage, and they said, “We’re going to get you into this person, that person, we’re going to take action”.
‘The appointments have now come through for (20)23 and (20)24, so you’re talking about four years from the impact.’
