Kate Garraway has shared that she wound up in hospital ‘with another crisis’ after receiving an invitation to attend the royal carol service hosted by Catherine, Princess of Wales.
On Christmas Eve, the carol service is set to air on ITV, having been filmed on Thursday December 15.
It was attended by members of the royal family including the Prince of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, as well as celebrity guests and performers.
On Friday’s Good Morning Britain, Kate, 55, told her co-host Ben Shephard and presenter Richard Arnold that she was ‘lucky enough’ to receive an invitation this year.
‘I’m going to be absolutely glued to that tomorrow night, because I was lucky enough to have an invite to it. I got one last year, and it’s one of the most amazing things ever, it’s just such a lovely atmosphere, as you know,’ she said.
‘I was going to take my dad who’d been looking forward to it for so long, but unfortunately we ended up in the hospital with another crisis. But it will be lovely to sit down and watch it with everybody else. It’s going to be magical.’

Kate didn’t elaborate on what the ‘hospital crisis’ was in reference to or who was affected.
The broadcaster is preparing to spend Christmas with her children Darcey, 16, and Billy, 13, and husband Derek Draper, who’s suffered long-lasting health issues after first being admitted to hospital with Covid almost three years ago.

Derek, a former political lobbyist, became unwell with coronavirus in March 2020, with medical professionals placing him in a coma to help his body combat the illness.
The next year, he was discharged from hospital, but the virus had a severe impact on his health, affecting his heart and lungs.
In October this year, she said that there was ‘no end point’ in caring for her spouse.

‘That’s the thing about caring, you want it to carry on because you want the person to be surviving and still with you so that you can still care for them but there isn’t an end point and it doesn’t get any easier,’ she said.
Kate has fronted two documentaries about her husband’s health, the first of which was called Kate Garraway: Finding Derek and the second of which was titled Kate Garraway: Caring For Derek.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
