Jonnie Irwin has given useful advice about taking out life insurance policy as he opened up further about living with terminal cancer.
The A Place In The Sun host revealed earlier this winter that he had been given ‘months’ to live after learning he had the disease in 2020.
The 48-year-old had initially decided to keep the diagnosis private but later had a change of heart, saying wanted to ‘get the monkey off my back’ and speak openly about it.
Since then he has updated fans with trips abroad with his wife Jessica, 40, and sons Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac, saying he had been ‘overwhelmed’ by the support.
The presenter appeared on Thursday’s Morning Live to give practical tips about coping with cancer with hosts Gethin Jones, 44, and Kimberley Walsh, 41.
The former Blue Peter presenter asked Jonnie about life insurance, with the TV star going on to detail an error he had made with his policy, urging others not to do the same.

Jonnie explained: ‘So when you get a terminal diagnosis, it covers you for when you’re gone, probably for your last few months.
‘But a terminal diagnosis can go on for years and it will affect…your illness affects your work, so if you’re unable to work and you’re waiting for this payout, who is going to pay the rent? Who’s going to pay the mortgage?
He continued: ‘So critical illness is a policy you take alongside that and that kicks in as soon as you’re ill.

‘I didn’t take that and that put a lot of pressure on me, having to work on days when I didn’t want to work on really, but critical illness, that’s one mistake I say to everyone. Get it out.’
Jonnie recently shared pictures from a family trip out to see Santa with his wife and son Rex after heartbreakingly acknowledging his children would grow up not knowing their dad.
He shared snaps showing him and Jessica posing next to Rudolph and pal with Rex in the reindeer barn.
