Jill Dando detective tells documentary killer’s identity is ‘no mystery at all’
The Metro says The detective who led the investigation into Jill Dando’s murder says he still believes to this day that cleared suspect Barry George pulled the trigger.
Speaking in a new three-part Netflix documentary delving into the TV presenter’s unsolved killing, Detective Chief Inspector Hamish Campbell claims the gunman’s identity ‘is no mystery at all’.
He helped secure Mr George’s conviction for the April 1999 murder two years later, with the former stuntman serving eight years behind bars before being freed following a retrial.
Asked in the docuseries ‘Who Killed Jill Dando?’ if he thinks Mr George is responsible, he says: ‘I did, yes.’ When the interviewer presses ‘But do you now?’ he adds: ‘I don’t think I’ve changed my mind.’
