The controversial late talk show host Jerry Springer had amassed an eyewatering sum of money by the time he died in 2023.
Springer was the face of one of America’s most shocking talk shows, The Jerry Springer Show, which ran from 1991 to 2018.
Throughout 4,000 episodes, he put ‘trash TV’ on the map by bringing ‘ordinary’ people on to share their explosive stories – often resulting in volatile showdowns and jaw-dropping confessions.
But the show’s legacy has been mired in controversy over the decades, all the way up to Springer’s death from pancreatic cancer aged 79.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, and a figure reiterated by Netflix, Jerry Springer was worth $60million (£48m) thanks to his onscreen, and political, career.
The majority of his wealth was accumulated thanks to his titular talk show which raked in impressive ratings after it pivoted from a more serious to a more tabloid-style approach.
At its height, it brought in over eight million viewers, even outpacing The Oprah Winfrey Show at one point.
But he also had plenty of other income streams.
He has 46 acting credits on IMDb including Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Domino and The Simpsons.
In terms of reality TV, he appeared on Dancing With The Stars in 2006 where he finished fifth place and as the Beetle on The Masked Singer in late 2022. And, of course, he served as a host for America’s Got Talent.
He was also the producer of his 1998 parody biopic Ringmaster and behind Judge Jerry, a reality show he helmed from 2019 to 2022.
Before his widespread fame, Springer also worked as a lawyer and launched a political career which saw him become an adviser for Robert F. Kennedy’s congress campaign in 1970.
He was even Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978.
In 1982 he started his onscreen career as a political commentator for NBC’s Cincinnati affiliate, WLWT.
Upon his death, spokesperson Jena Galvin said: ‘Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.
‘He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humour will live on.’
