Delaware State Police have released some details in the death of Jay Briscoe.
The Ring of Honor wrestling legend died aged 38 in a car crash this week which also left his two young daughters hurt with one requiring major surgery.
An investigation into his death is ongoing, but authorities have revealed how another driver ‘failed to remain in her lane’ and crossed ‘directly into the path’ of Briscoe’s car.
In a statement, police said: ‘This resulted in a head-on collision between the two pickup trucks in the eastbound lane. The driver of the Silverado 1500, identified as 27-year-old Lillyanne Ternahan of Frankford, Delaware, was wearing her seatbelt.
‘The driver of the Silverado 2500, identified as 38-year-old Jamin Pugh of Laurel, Delaware, was not wearing his seatbelt. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
‘The two passengers in Pugh’s pickup truck, identified as his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old daughter, were both properly restrained. Both girls were taken by ambulance to an area hospital and were admitted in critical condition.’
DSP added that ‘alcohol involvement in this crash is unknown’, while ‘no other vehicles were involved in his collision’.
Briscoe joined ROH in 2002, forming a tag team with his brother Mark, and they went onto to become one of the greatest duos in wrestling history.

They were inducted into Ring of Honor’s inaugural Hall of Fame class in 2022, while he also enjoyed success as a singles star and became the ROH world champion on two occasions.
Briscoe’s death was announced by ROH and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) boss Tony Khan on Twitter.
He wrote: ‘Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.
‘Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.’
Following the news, stars from all over wrestling have paid tribute to the ROH Hall of Famer, including WWE boss Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.
