Comedian Jason Manford has put himself forward for a place in The Traitors celebrity special, should one ever come to fruition.
Traitors fever swept the nation in recent weeks, with viewers quickly becoming obsessed with the BBC show that saw 22 strangers play ‘the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust’.
Over the course of the 12-episode series, four players were made secret traitors and were tasked with ‘murdering’ the other faithful contestants, while the latter had to root out the traitors and banish them.
The nail-biting finale aired just before Christmas and saw traitor Wilf Webster outed just in the nick of time, with Meryl, Aaron Evans, and Hannah taking home the jackpot.
It’s fair to say Jason, 41, was rather impressed by the whole shebang and shared his review on Twitter.

‘Just finished “The Traitors” on @BBCOne!’ he penned. ‘No idea how I managed to avoid any spoilers but what a brilliant bit of telly! Loved it!’
Turning his attention to presenter Claudia Winkleman, he continued: ‘@ClaudiaWinkle the perfect host. If they do a celeb version, I’m throwing my hat in the ring now! Catch it on iPlayer if you haven’t managed it yet!’
While many fans were quick to state they’d love to see Jason thrown into the game, some expressed concern that a celebrity series would ‘ruin’ it.
Replying to one naysayer, Jason wrote: ‘Yeah I know what you mean, it defo needs a few series of regular folks to bed it in, format wise.
‘But if a sneaky Comic Relief special is on the cards, I’m for it! I wouldn’t want a celeb special in place of a regular one! Tbh I just wanna go at it haha.’ (sic)
Sadly though, another series of The Traitors has yet to be confirmed by BBC, although we’re quietly confident we haven’t seen the last of the UK version just yet.
It’s not all bad news though, as a US version is set to land on television screens in just a matter of days.
