If anyone is even more game for a Freaky Friday sequel than us, then it’s original star Jamie Lee Curtis.
She appeared in the 2003 Disney comedy with Lindsay Lohan, playing an overworked mother who switches bodies with her moody teenage daughter, forcing each of them to adapt to the other’s life.
Although nothing has been officially announced yet, the star was in full-on tease mode this weekend at the Producers Guild Awards.
The 64-year-old Oscar-nominated actress even went as far as to say it was ‘going to happen’ on Saturday night.
And who are we to quibble?
‘It’s going to happen,’ she insisted.

‘Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, “Of course it’s going to happen.” It’s going to happen,’ Curtis repeated, according to Variety.
Back on February 10, the Halloween star proved Freaky Friday was on her mind by posting a sweet throwback picture of her and Lohan from around the time of the making of the film.
‘It’s Friday. I’m just sayin’! Freaky fingers crossed!’ she wrote in the caption, with Lohan – who has been enjoying a career comeback with her acting re-entry courtesy of Netflix rom-com Falling for Christmas – posting crossed fingers, heart-eyed and raised hands emoji in the comments.

The movie was based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel of the same name, and was first made into a film in 1976, starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris.
Curtis, who won a Sag Award on Sunday night for her performance in Oscars favourite Everything Everywere All At Once, was Golden Globe nominated for her performance in the remake, which also featured Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon.

It was considered a great success, making $160million (£132.7m) on a $26million (£21.5m) budget, and is one of a run of epic teen movies Lohan made as a young star.
Back in November, Curtis had also spoken about a possible Freaky Friday sequel, confirming she and Lohan had discussed it.
‘There is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are talking. The right people are talking,’ she spilled at the Los Angeles premiere of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

She added at the time: ‘I’m 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36… [A sequel] lends itself so beautifully. We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make and I think they’re interested and we’re talking.’
Well, wouldn’t most people be?
Freaky Friday is available to stream on Disney Plus now.
