Jamie Lee Curtis has had a real full-circle moment with this year’s Baftas.
The Halloween actress, 64, attended her first Baftas bash four decades ago, ending with her scooping a trophy for Trading Places, in which she starred alongside Eddie Murphy.
JLC now admits she wasn’t aware of how important the trophy was for her to win at the age of 25, but she’s ‘older’ and ‘wiser’ in 2023 after being nominated once again.
Sharing nostalgic snaps from her first Baftas the day before this year’s glitzy event, she wrote: ’40 years ago, I flew to London for 24 hours, as I was nominated for a BAFTA. @bafta for #TradingPlaces with Eddie Murphy.
‘To be honest, at 25, pre internet, I didn’t really even understand the import of that institution and it was the first shiny thing I had ever been nominated for and so I went and was dumbfounded and shocked when they presented me this gorgeous trophy.
‘I borrowed a dress from a friend and #BigHairDon’tCare.’
She added that, this year at the Golden Globes, she presented former co-star Eddie with his lifetime achievement award.
‘A couple years before I ran into him at TIFF and my friend @jlcvisuals shot this beautiful portrait. Both Eddie and I now parents and long married and long in the tooth,’ she wrote alongside a picture of them together.
‘Tomorrow night, I will be back at the BAFTA’s with this mixed bunch of nuts 📷@joshtelles @everythingeverywheremovie. Older. Wiser. Way better hair, @seanjameshair in clothes that I bought retail, @ysl in jewellery made for me by my friend @cathywaterman.
‘Certainly much more centred about who I am as a human being and why we’re all here and I’m thrilled that the movie that I will be there as a nominee because of and supporting as head cheerleader is about LOVE and KINDNESS the beautiful reunification of a FAMILY but boy is this a funny little book end to this life for me.’

And she certainly did dazzle on Sunday night’s carpet with plenty of reasons to celebrate, as Everything Everywhere All At Once matched Banshees with a well-deserved 10 nominations, including a leading actress nod for Michelle Yeoh.
Posing for cameras ahead of the ceremony, Jamie Lee looked chic as one of the first stars to arrive.
Jamie Lee – nominated for best supporting actress for her role – arrived at the Royal Festival Hall wearing a black blazer and cream silk skirt.
Wearing a dark eye look and glossy pink lip, she got playful, even taking a moment to kiss the Bafta trophy on the wall behind her.
Netflix’s anti-war epic All Quiet On The Western Front leads the pack with 14 nominations tonight.
The Banshees Of Inisherin, starring Colin Farrell, follows close behind with 10 noms also.
The night could see Irish star Colin take home the first Bafta of his 25-year career.
