‘Here’s the airfield drifting piece from years back,’ he added, alongside a YouTube link to Block’s airfield rallying in 2009.
In the video, Block shows off his Sabaru-sliding skills against dirt-biking champion Ricky Carmichael at Inyokern Airport, an operational California airport.
The late rally driver went on to appear in Top Gear once again in 2010, where he took a Reliant Robin for a lap of the Top Gear test track. He rolled the car and was unable to complete a lap but was unhurt.
Following Block’s death, the Sheriff’s Office stated that he ‘was riding a snowmobile on a steep slope when the snowmobile upended, landing on top of him’.
