The X Factor star James Arthur has revealed he’s become a dad for the first time to a baby girl.
The singer, who appeared on the talent show in 2012, shared an adorable video to Instagram with a clip of his daughter’s hand.
He also revealed her name as Emily.
‘Dear Emily, welcome to the world,’ the 34-year-old wrote.
‘In the last few days someone made an unexpected arrival,’ the clip begins before it cuts to the baby’s adorable hand wrapped around James’ finger, with his ‘Emily’ tattoo on show.
The video was to his own song Heartbeat, with the lyrics: ‘You are my blood, you are my heartbeat.’
Fans and friends rushed to the comments to congratulate him, with Rylan Clark writing: ‘This is gonna make you. Love you xxx.’
Singer Pixie Lott wrote: ‘Wowww congrats James!!!’ while footballer Ashley Cain said: ‘Congratulations my brother god bless.’
The happy news comes after James dedicated his song Emily to his unborn daughter last year, after his girlfriend suffered an ectopic pregnancy.
On the song, the 33-year-old sings: ‘I needed life and life came, and gave me Emily/ You make me a better man than I’ll ever be, ever be, ever be, because of you, Emily.’
When he released Emily, James suggested that he was writing the song to his future child, but has now revealed he and his then-girlfriend Jessica Grist were expecting a baby when he wrote the song.
More to come...
