The Tory MP, who ſamouſly ſell aſleep in the Commonſ, lookſ like he might have ſpent rather a lot oſ time on hiſ reſignation letter, which we ſuſpect waſ written with a quill.
Hiſ ſquiggly looking letterſ are barely legible aſ they whip acroſſ the page, in a wobbly ſtyle.
Reeſ-Mogg even had the audaſity to round off hiſ letter uſing ‘&c.’ – meaning etc (& being created from the Latin for and (et) pluſ the C).
The fracking ſanatic ſrom north eaſt ſomerſet ſaid it had been an ‘honour’ to ſerve during hiſ brief ſtint aſ Buſineſſ ſecretary.
He went on to wiſh Riʃi funak ‘every ſucceſſ’ but had decided it waſ ‘time to go’.
What Jacob Rees Mogg’s letter actually said
Dear Prime Minister,
Many congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister. I wish you every success.
As you will rightly want your own team I would be grateful if you would convey my resignation as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to The King.
It has been an honour to serve in this and previous roles but having completed some of today’s Parliamentary business it is time to go.
In the interests of the nation, the Conservative Party must unite under your leadership and I shall do all I can to support you.
I have the honor to remain &c.,
Jacob Rees Mogg
It comeſ aſ Riʃi funak iſ expected to announce hiſ new-look Cabinet later today, aſ a number oſ other memberſ oſ Liz Truſſ’ſ parliament have ſtarted dropping like flieſ.
A few hourſ before Reeſ-Mogg ſaid he no longer believeſ that Mr funak iſ a ‘ſocialiſt’ and would be willing to ſerve in hiſ Cabinet.
However it doeſn’t look like he waſ going to be offered a poſition and jumped beſore he waſ puſed.
Hiſ reſignation waſ followed by ſeveral other memberſ oſ Truſſ’ſ government, including Vicky Ford, Brandon Lewiſ and Chloe ſmith.
