WHat you have to go through for art (Picture: ITV/Metro.co.uk)
Emmerdale star Claire King has been talking about filming the huge 50th anniversary episodes in which a huge wind storm ravages the village and causes massive destruction, putting many lives in danger.
Claire’s character Kim Tate is at the centre of the action as the storm takes place on her wedding day. When Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) is found to be missing, Kim rushes off to find her, riding the horse that she arrived at the wedding on.
With huge wind machines blowing, and the filming taking place on a very hot day, it wasn’t any easy situation as Claire explained to Metro.co.uk.
‘It nearly finished me off!’ she told us. ‘Being thrown around woods in all that dirt and things, I’m too old for that!
‘It was actually a very hot day and it’s supposed to be October so I have all these layers on and boots and it was rather sweaty, but also very dirty and dry.’
Claire’s health suffered, too. ‘I was on antibiotics for about a week because my nose and eye all swelled up,’ she explained before going into the more gory details.

‘I blew my nose about a week after I finished my course and a great big seed pod came out. It had got infected in my nose, it must have blown up with all those wind machines.’
Despite this, Claire has some good memories of the shoot in which she shared scenes with Katherine Dow Blyton who plays Harriet Finch.
‘We did manage to have a bit of a laugh, Katherine and I,’ she confirmed.
Her other co-star in the scenes was the horse, who was called Ice. ‘He’s done loads of films, he’s got way more on his CV than I have!’ Claire smiled.

‘It made the whole job more pleasurable. We were quite a formidable little team.’
As to what actually happens in the woods – do they find Amelia? Do Kim and Harriet go head-to-head for the love of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews)? – Claire isn’t saying, but she’s as keen as we are to see the finished episodes.
‘I think it just looked stunning on the day. I’m desperate to see what it’s like.’
