The Guardian – Israeli PM rules out ceasefire and declares: “This is a time for war” 

The Guardian focuses on comments made by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who ruled out implementing a ceasefire with Hamas in a news conference on Monday, instead declaring “this is a time for war”. 

The paper also reports that Israeli joy at the rescue of one of its soldiers from Gaza was “tempered” by the release of a Hamas video of three other captives.

The front page also reports on the Covid inquiry and says there is pressure on former Prime Minister Boris Johnson over WhatsApp messages that have emerged during the inquiry. The former PM asked why damage was being inflicted on the economy for people who were going to “die soon anyway.”
