The England team is gearing up for the start of the World Cup in Qatar tomorrow – and they’re starting it in style.
The Three Lions asked to be based on the outskirts of the capital, and players are training at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium, the Al Wakrah Sports Complex, which is 10 miles south of Doha.
Delegates from the Football Association previously visited Qatar to select their preferences, and their camp was confirmed in July.
Unlike in previous tournaments, countries will train at their allocated stadiums on the night before matches, instead of on the pitch of the host venue.
Manager Gareth Southgate and the team are staying at the Souq Al-Wakra hotel, which is just a five-minute drive from their 12,000-seater training ground.
Although it is slightly out of the way in comparison to where other teams are staying, it is easily accessible from the tournament’s key locations by road.
It’s a five-star beach resort which offers spa facilities and several restaurants.
The hotel has a theme of Al Wakra’s history as a pearling and fishing village, and features classic thatched roofs and sea and sand motifs.
Around this time of year rooms actually only cost around £110 per night – but of course, it’s totally booked out until just before Christmas due to the World Cup.
England will be playing group-stage matches against Iran, the United States and Wales.

The World Cup has already come under intense scrutiny this year before the tournament has even started, due to Qatar’s poor track record concerning LGBTQ+ and human rights.
There was also disappointment after the sale of alcohol to fans at World Cup stadiums was banned just two days before the tournament was due to begin.
