India bowler Mohammed Shami taunted Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar after England won the T20 World Cup.
England clinched a five-wicket win over Pakistan in Sunday’s final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jos Buttler’s side progressed to the final after smashing India by ten wickets in Adelaide, while Pakistan knocked out New Zealand in the semi-finals.
Pakistan fans certainly enjoyed England’s 10-wicket thrashing over arch-rivals India and former fast bowler Akhtar described the performance of Rohit Sharma’s side as ’embarrassing’.
Shami hit back at the legendary bowler after Pakistan fell short in the T20 World Cup final, tweeting: ‘Sorry brother. It’s call karma.’
England captain Buttler said he was ‘immensely proud’ of his side after they became T20 world champions for the second time.
Pakistan posted just 137-8 as Sam Curran took 3-12 and Adil Rashid finished with 2-22, Shan Masood top-scoring with 38.
England broke the back of the chase in the first 10 overs but Pakistan began to fight back through the middle overs to leave England needing 45 from 31 balls.
Stokes was still at the crease, however, and smashed Iftikhar Ahmed for successive boundaries on his way to guiding England to victory with six balls remaining.
‘It hasn’t sunk in at all obviously,’ Buttler said. ‘What an unbelievable effort from everyone to win the game.
‘I am a bit speechless to be honest but immensely proud. My emotions were good at some times and terrible at others.

‘At the halfway stage it felt like everything was under control but they bowled really well for a period there and created great pressure, but that man again in Ben Stokes. He just knows how to get it done.
‘It feels really different to 2019. It was a different time, difference place and a different group. I am just immensely proud. Both are just incredible and I don’t know what to say.’
Stokes added: ‘To represent your country at a World Cup is amazing. This has been a good one.
‘I am very proud. You don’t get to win World Cups too often so to win two of them is pretty special.’
