Georgia Toffolo insists she’s not ‘backtracking’ her views over Matt Hancock’s controversial stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! after stars called out the ‘screeching U-turn.’
The Made In Chelsea star, who won the ITV series back in 2017, was one of many celebrities that slammed the politician’s jungle arrival.
After making his show debut alongside comedian Seann Walsh, Hancock has faced endless bushtucker trials which have involved eating various animal parts and being covered in slime.
Although Toffolo initially branded Hancock’s cameo as ‘disgraceful’ she believes the former health secretary has handled himself well despite the mounting backlash.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk at Tuesday’s ITV Palooza, she said: ‘I was very vocal about saying he shouldn’t have gone in.
‘I don’t think any sitting MP should ever do that show, I think it’s odd, resign, have a by-election, fine move on!

‘Because he’s gone in there and done it, I can’t help but separate Matt Hancock from the politician to the jungle campmate, and I think it’s kind of OK to say he’s doing well.’
Addressing her initial claim over Hancock’s appearance, she continued: ‘I’ve never seen anyone do so many trials in a row, he’s doing it all with gusto and a smile on his face.
‘It doesn’t mean that I’m backtracking on anything that I’ve said before, no I’m not. They’re just totally different beasts, is what I’m trying to say.’
The married MP resigned last year for breaking social distancing rules by kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo in his departmental office while he was married to wife Martha Millar, with whom he has three children.
Last week, Hancock said that he is ‘looking for forgiveness’ after being grilled by his fellow campmates, and Toffolo explained that she understands why ‘people aren’t happy.’

‘You’re never going to say anything [about Hancock] that isn’t provocative… so both sides of the coin, people aren’t happy and I get it, and I feel the same. That’s why I keep going like this, like a yo-yo.’
Sharing who she wants to take the crown this year, she added: ‘I really want Jill [Scott] to win, she’s amazing. I love her!’
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
