For weeks now there’s been criticism of Matt Hancock’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! signing, but there’s even more backlash after he was shockingly voted into the final.
Saturday night’s episode saw Mike Tindall sent home, leaving Jill Scott, Owen Warner and Hancock in the top three.
Even before the disgraced MP and former health secretary entered the jungle, there was a swift reaction to the fact he’d left the country and his constituents in a cost of living crisis to take part – especially as it was revealed he’d be pocketing £400,000 for the appearance.
When he walked into camp too, some of the other celebrities were far from happy to see him, including Boy George who got emotional and even threatened to walk out, while Charlene White made sure to give him a grilling.
The politician was put forward for several of the challenges to begin with, which he took on the chin and actually performed pretty well in.
He’s clearly worked hard to push for a redemption arc, saying before he went in that he wanted people ‘to see the real me’.

‘People will see me warts and all, see the human side of the guy behind the podium,’ he said.
But the fact he’s not only made it so far in the series, but now has a chance at actually winning has sparked even more passionate responses.
Immediately after it was announced he was through to the final, comments started flooding social media platforms.
After the initial shock subsided and people started taking it all in, some started writing on Twitter that ‘the joke is over now’, while others started urging people to vote for the other two finalists.
‘Can’t believe that Matt Hancock is in the final. Genuinely Disgusted. Should be ashamed’, one Twitter user wrote.
‘Top 3? Matt Hancock is in the top 3. This country is a disgrace’, wrote another.
Others weren’t quite sure how it actually happened, with some saying that the competition was rigged and others ready to have a word with those responsible for the series.
However, the fact Hancock has made it this far clearly means enough people have voted for him.
Despite the overwhelmingly negative response, there were some viewers who came out and said they supported him, seemingly ready to forgive him.
Others pointed out that his plans to try and win back the public might have been fruitful.

However, a tweet that started circulating at the same time included a collage of healthcare workers that had died during the pandemic, with the post reading: ‘If you vote for Matt Hancock to win I’m A Celebrity then look at these faces before you do’.
Within minutes it had picked up hundreds of likes.
The I’m A Celebrity finale airs tomorrow night from 9.15pm on ITV.
