Many fans of I’m A Celeb are wondering whether Boy George is vegan or veggie (Credits: ITV)
We’re less than a week into the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity, but there’s already been enough drama for a whole series.
After Olivia Attwood’s shock exit, Tory MP Matt Hancock and comedian Seann Walsh entered the jungle, much to everyone’s surprise (but not to everyone’s delight).
Away from the main headlines, Mike Tindall has been busy spitting bars while Boy George has confronted Charlene White about the hierarchy of power in the camp kitchen.
Since entering the jungle, the former Culture Club singer and pop icon, whose real name is George O’Dowd, has been eating a different diet to the rest of his campmates.
But what’s the true nature of his diet? Is he vegan or vegetarian?

Boy George has been very vocal in public about the fact that he is a vegetarian. However, during his time in the jungle, he will be following a vegan diet.
This is likely due to the limited options available to the campmates while they’re in the jungle, with vegetarian-non-vegan options such as milk and eggs hard to come by.
When the campmates receive their meals after winning stars in the various trials and challenges, it is thought that Boy George has been eating a vegetarian or vegan option instead.
What do vegans and vegetarians eat in Bushtucker trials?

Boy George is not the first contestant in I’m A Celeb history to require a modified diet, either due to personal choice or health reasons.
In 2018, there were two contestants who entered the jungle and took part in Bushtucker trials despite following a vegetarian or vegan diet in normal life.
Fleur East, who is currently on Strictly Come Dancing, briefly went back to a non-vegan diet during her time in the jungle.
Meanwhile, The Vamps’ James McVey entered the camp as a vegetarian. Vegetarian campmates are apparently given portions of tofu instead of the meat options awarded to the other campmates.

In 2020, actress Beverley Callard was exempt from some Bushtucker trials due to her vegan status, although some viewers at home doubted that was true.
Callard, who finished 10th in the series, said she had taken on a vegan diet after a recent operation.
