We all know and love IKEA’s iconic café meatballs, but now there’s a chicken version to celebrate the Coronation.
And it’s a Coronation-themed food item we can fully get behind.
With this recipe that feeds four to six people, Coronation chicken gets a Scandi-inspired shakeup – and it’s perfect for a picnic or get together over the bank holiday weekend.
Using their HUVUDROLL meatballs coated in a creamy curry sauce, this recipe was first created in 1953 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation.
Karen Hughes, country food Manager at IKEA, says: ‘To mark the Coronation of King Charles III, we wanted to share our own take on the original Coronation Chicken.
‘In just four simple steps, anyone can enjoy a Swedish twist on a dish fit for British royalty featuring… you guessed it. Bon appétit or, smaklig måltid, as we say in Sweden.’
Across stores, IKEA will be hosting Coronation activities from now until May 8, such as biscuit decorating.
Shoppers can buy HUVUDROLL Chicken Meatballs for £7.75 for 1kg, Vegetable Balls for £4.95 for 1kg, or Plant Balls for £3.95 for 500g in IKEA stores.
