Freezing temperatures in Britain are expected to trigger cold weather payments for people on the lowest incomes as a fuel poverty charity said support must be increased for the most vulnerable.
Eligible households in England and Wales, where the average temperature has been recorded as – or is forecast to be – 0C or below over seven consecutive days, will receive a government payment of £25.
