Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris admits it was ‘not easy to find the words’ to message team-mate Harry Kane after England’s World Cup exit to France.
Kane missed a late penalty against the World Champions, which would have taken the game to extra-time.
The forward had earlier scored from the spot to level the match, before Olivier Giroud struck a late headed winner.
Kane blazed his second effort way over the bar after waiting around four minutes to take the spot kick following a lengthy VAR review.
Many have claimed since that another penalty taker should have stepped up after Kane took the first.
Kane has since been given a week off by Tottenham in order to recover from the disappointment of the defeat.
And Lloris admits it was hard to find the right words to say to Kane after the loss, though he did manage to send him a message.

‘I don’t need to go too much further about this,’ said Lloris.
‘We had a text exchange after the game. But it was not easy to find the words to say to him so soon.
‘Harry needs some rest and some time. It is a difficult moment for the England team and Harry.
‘But I think he can be proud of what he has done for the national team in this World Cup.
‘In the history of football, many top players have missed important penalties.
‘I can think of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe, among others.
I know Harry will move on from this and will help Tottenham and the England team shine.’
