Time for second chances? (Picture: Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto via Getty Images)
‘Tis the season of forgiveness, time to wipe the slate clean and give second chances to those who have wronged you (or just posted too many pictures of their food).
One way to get into the spirit is to let people back into your life by unblocking their Instagram accounts – squandering any past grievances once and for all.
If that sounds like you and you’re ready to welcome old frenemies back on to your Insta feed — or if the opposite is true and you’re clearing your feed for peace (no FOMO) this festive season — then Metro.co.uk‘s helpful guide will walk you through the process step by step.
Go to settings
To unblock an account on Instagram you first need to open the app, log on and go to your settings.
This can be done by clicking the three lines at the top right of your profile. once you’re there you can view and edit blocked accounts.

Open privacy settings
Your privacy settings can be found in the Accounts Centre dropdown underneath notifications and above supervision. If you can’t find it you can use the top bar to search.
This is where you can access Blocked accounts, make your account private and change the way people can interact with your posts and stories.

Scroll to connections
At the bottom of your Instagram privacy settings you should see a section titled ‘Connections’. Under here you can click to view accounts you’ve blocked, muted or restricted in the past.

Block and Unblock to your heart’s content
In ‘Blocked accounts’ you can view a full list of all the accounts that you’ve blocked.
If you want to add someone new to the list you can do so by selecting the plus sign in the top right hand corner of the screen.
To unblock and instagram user simply press the blue ‘Unblock’ button by their username. You can unblock as many accounts as you like in one sitting but be careful when bulk-blocking as Instagram may mistake you for a bot and freeze the block facility for a little while.
