The UK is finally enjoying a burst of summer weather – and it’s only going to get hotter in the coming days.
Thanks to the ‘Iberian Plume’ coming our way, the mercury is set to soar – with the hottest temperature of the year so far so far predicted for this weekend.
Which is good news for sunseekers – although it still falls short of the record breaking summer the UK experienced in 2022, when the country experienced 40°C temperatures for the first time ever.
You can expect some warm nights as well, with the temperature unlikely to fall below 15 or 16°C in some parts of the country as the hot spell unfolds.
With that in mind, just how hot is it going to get in London over the weekend? Here’s what you can expect if you’re planning on heading outside…
How hot will it get in London this weekend?
According to the current Met Office forecast temperatures in London are set to hit 29°C on Saturday.
However BBC Weather predicts they could nudge even higher, hitting the 30°C mark.
That means London could be hotter than Ibiza – but it’s prompted the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to issue alerts for hot weather across much of the country.

The capital is under a yellow weather warning along with the North-East, North-West and Yorkshire and Humber.
Meanwhile, existing weather warnings which were initially yellow have been raised to amber for the West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South East and South West.
‘At this level we may begin to see some health impacts across the wider population, not just the most vulnerable,’ a statement added.
All heat alerts are in place from 9am on Friday until 9am on Monday.
And that’s not all – because the hot weather could well give way to showers and torrential rain over the weekend.

Simon Partridge, forecaster for the Met Office, said: ‘It will get warmer but there may well be more cloud with heavy, thundery showers mixed in as well.
‘There will still be plenty of sunshine around, but it will come with much muggier nights.’
The Met Office has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms across large parts of England and Wales from 2pm to 9pm on Saturday – with suggestions that as much as 30-40mm of rain could fall.
How long will the hot weather last?
According to the Met Office forecast London’s likely to experience several days of hot weather, with the temperature set to be in the mid-to-high 20s across the week.
BBC Weather is predicting it will last until at least next weekend before things start to cool by a few degrees – although their long-range forecast for the next fortnight suggests temperatures will remain in the low-to-mid twenties as we reach the latter half of the month.

The Met Office’s forecast for Sunday to Tuesday predicts ‘warm nights and very warm, or locally hot by day’.
Their forecast up to June 22 promises ‘Temperatures widely above average for the time of year, by day and by night, with western areas likely seeing the warmest conditions overall.’
And it could well continue into July, with their long-range forecast predicting ‘widespread often sunny and clear conditions’ and ‘temperatures above normal for the time of year’ – although there is also a threat of further thunderstorms too.
