Bree Cameron (Juliet Godwin) makes a huge decision in Home and Away next week, resolving to move with her life amid abusive husband Jacob’s (Alex Williams) disappearance.
The doctor is left perturbed in upcoming scenes when villainous Jacob fails to turn up for work, with things taking yet another turn when she learns that the abuser has emptied out their bank accounts.
The discovery leaves Bree absolutely terrified, as she breaks down in her motel room, petrified of what Jacob is up to – knowing full well what he’s capable of.
‘At first, she’s quite stunned and in shock,’ actress Juliet Godwin told Metro.co.uk, discussing her character’s reaction to Jacob’s sudden vanishing. ‘She doesn’t quite know [what to make of it], and then as the “what ifs” run through her head she becomes very terrified.
‘He is dangerous and she doesn’t know his next move.’
Remi Carter (Adam Rowland), meanwhile, comes to Bree’s aid and is determined to take her back to his place in a bid to protect her. Bree, however, is keen to protect him, worried what Jacob would do if he were to find out, and thus she declines his offer.
Despite Bree’s pleas, Remi refuses to leave her alone and, since she won’t come to stay with him, he resolves to stay with her.

In typical soap fashion, however, it’s not long before conflict ensues!
‘Bree is so grateful for the help and support Remi has given her but naturally being locked up in a hotel room for three days, scared and anxious, she’s going to have a couple of human moments where she maybe lets the stress of it get to her and she snaps,’ said Juliet.
‘But other than that, they tend to work through things really quickly those two. She’s extremely worried for Remi and at first she actually doesn’t want him to stay because she’s so worried but him insisting, she’s like OK. She hasn’t said it yet but she’s falling hard for this man, she likes that safety.’
As Juliet said, Bree is starting to fall for Remi, and subsequent scenes see her take some time out of her confinement, heading for a surf, which proves to be exactly what she needs.

‘This is a massive moment for her,’ admitted Juliet. ‘A massive turning point. To some people, going for a surf may not seem like a big thing at all but for Bree to conquer her fear and go outside and surf, that’s her way of reclaiming her freedom, of finding herself again.
‘Surfing is part of her identity and taking that first step gives her the courage to then take the other two steps where she goes: “I’m going to divorce Jacob” and “I’m going to take [Remi] out on a date’.
‘She’s going to reclaim her life again and reclaim her identity. Sadly, so many victims of domestic violence lose their identity, so this is Bree’s way of taking hers back.’

Remi is taken aback by Bree’s request for a date, but the two are very excited for this romance and where it might go.
‘Remi really brings out a beautiful side to Bree and sparks her sense of humour,’ said Juliet. ‘The way he’s been so supportive and she feel’s so safe with him, she’s worthy of that kind of love.’
Things, however, are set to take another dark turn, with Jacob later to be seen lurking in the shadows, evidently aware of Juliet’s newfound romance – and shocking scenes will ensue.
