Jane Fonda has done some serious public swooning over Tom Brady, her co-star in upcoming film 80 for Brady.
The comedy had its world premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Friday, where the actress and activist recalled her first meeting with the NFL player.
Despite being a member of a Hollywood dynasty thanks to dad Henry Fonda and brother Peter Fonda among others – as well as very successful in her own right, Jane said she was ‘completely starstruck’ when they came face to face.
The 85-year-old, who recently shared that she was in remission after her non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis, revealed that he came to introduce himself to her at her trailer one day during production, as the first-time producer also makes a cameo in the film.
‘My knees actually got weak when he walked into my trailer,’ Jane gushed, adding: ‘I’m in awe of that kind of skill.
‘When somebody is the best in the world at what they do, you have to honour that and respect it. I was just awestruck.’

She also told press at the event, via The Hollywood Reporter: ‘He was kind and humble, which is hard to believe considering how brilliant he is at what he does, but it’s true. He was also sweet and polite.’
The Grace and Frankie actress stars in 80 for Brady alongside peers Lily Tomlin, 83, Rita Moreno, 91, and Sally Field, 76, in what is a cast dripping with Oscar-nominated (and winning) talent.
The ladies play a group of 80-year-old friends who make it their life-long mission to go to the Super Bowl and meet American football superstar Tom Brady during the 2017 season and what turns out to be a thrilling game for the New England Patriots.

Inspired by a true story, the trailer also teases appearances by Billy Porter, Guy Fieri and Tom’s former teammate Rob Gronkowski.
It also turns out that Tom is just as much of a fan of his legendary co-stars, calling it an ‘honour’ to work with them.

He told People magazine in November: ‘The opportunity to work alongside these four amazingly talented women has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
‘Not only are they true professionals and experts at their craft, but they are even better people, and it was an honour to be on set with them.’
80 for Brady releases in UK cinemas on March 24.
