Juliet confided in her older brother about her worries and fears (Picture: Lime Pictures)
Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) confided in brother James (Gregory Finnegan) in Hollyoaks, revealing that she’s scared of dying in pain following her terminal diagnosis.
The popular character, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year, was informed by medical professionals earlier this week that her cancer has spread and thus there is no more treatment options available to her.
The news came as a devastating blow to both she and girlfriend Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who urged her to confide in her loved ones about what she was going through.
Despite her initial doubts, Jules did just that, revealing her prognosis to Donna-Marie Quinn (Lucy-Jo Hudson), who vowed to support her, agreeing to keep shtum where James was concerned until after his wedding.
The big day arrived on Thursday (May 18), with James tying the knot with beau Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), but emotional scenes ensued as Juliet collapsed amid a special dance with her big brother, prompting her to reveal the truth to James, confirming that she’s dying.
James struggled to process the news, with Juliet concerned that James would hate her for ‘ruining’ his big day.
James, however, focused his attention on Donna-Marie, before ultimately accepting that nobody was at fault, as he set out to offer his support to his little sister.

Proving himself to be the ‘beautiful’ human Juliet knew him to be, James cradled her in his arms, before sharing a special heart-to-heart with her by the lake.
Juliet opened up, revealing that she’s afraid of dying alone and in pain, but James was adamant that he would not let that happen, vowing to be there for her, no matter what.
The siblings made sure to express their love for one another, before heading to the bridge to watch the sun set on the horizon. Peri, Ste, Donna-Marie and Romeo (Owen Warner) joined the duo for what proved to be a magical moment for all involved.

Donna-Marie found the moment particularly difficult, given that earlier in the episode she told James that she feared the sun setting on his wedding day, which was the perfect day for everyone.
Jules, meanwhile, took in the beautiful sight before her, not wanting the moment to end.
There are more emotional scenes ahead next week, Metro.co.uk can confirm, as Juliet will realise the reality of her situation as she sets about planning for her own funeral, breaking down in tears.
Hollyoaks continues Monday May 22 at 7pm on E4, or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
