Juliet broke the news of her terminal prognosis to James on the evening of his wedding (Picture: Lime Pictures)
James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) was on cloud nine in Hollyoaks after marrying Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), but his happiness was short-lived, with Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw) subsequently revealing her prognosis.
Juliet, as viewers know, was told earlier this week that her cancer had spread and there’s no further treatment the doctors can offer, meaning that her condition is now terminal.
The popular character struggled to come to terms with her prognosis, as did Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who encouraged her girlfriend to tell her loved ones, with Juliet breaking down in Donna-Marie Quinn’s (Lucy-Jo Hudson) arms as she did just that.
Despite this game-changing news, however, Juliet was adamant that she didn’t want her beloved brother James to know before his wedding to Ste, determined to ensure the grooms had the best day imaginable.
Thursday’s (May 18) edition of the Channel 4 soap saw James and Ste tie the knot in truly romantic scenes, with James showing just how much he loves his beau by wearing a tracksuit to walk down the aisle and say his vows.
After the ceremony wrapped up, the celebrations moved to The Dog where the reception took place, with the husbands sharing an emotional moment on stage as they read aloud each other’s vows, before taking to the dance floor for their first dance.

Juliet, meanwhile, was elated, having had the best day surrounded by her loved ones. After a moment outside the venue with Peri, she returned inside to cut into Ste and James’ dance, hoping for a sway on the dance floor with her big bro.
Ste was happy to comply, with Juliet and James enjoying a special moment in one another’s company. Things, however, took a devastating turn, with Juliet collapsing in James’ arms, much to the groom’s shock and horror.

Peri and Donna-Marie did their best to keep James from the truth, claiming Juliet was simply tired, but fed up of the charade, Juliet revealed all.
‘I’m sorry James,’ she said. ‘I’m dying’.
Romeo (Owen Warner) and Ste were left in shock at the news, as was James, who burst into tears, realising that he’s running out of time with his little sister.
