HMP Wormwood Scrubs prisoner who escaped from hospital arrested | UK News
A prisoner who went on the run after being taken to hospital has been arrested and returned to jail.
Police launched a manhunt for Graham Gomm, 63, on Thursday.
He had been on remand at HMP Wormwood Scrubs for burglary offences.
But he gave guard the slip after being taken to Hammersmith Hospital having fallen ill.
The Met Police have now confirmed he was arrested in Putney at around 8.30am on Saturday and taken back to prison.
An investigation into how he escaped custody will continue.
A spokesperson said: ‘As a result of a coordinated police operation working alongside colleagues from HM Prison Service, Graham Gomm has been arrested and returned to prison.
‘Police officers from across the Met worked together after being alerted to Graham Gomm’s escape on July 18.
‘As a result of a proactive operation, officers arrested Gomm in Putney at around 8.30am on July 20.’
