Mauricio Pochettino is adamant Chelsea assistant coach Jesus Perez ‘deserved to be fined’ for his bust-up with Brentford’s coaching staff on Saturday.
The west London derby, which Thomas Frank’s side won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, was a somewhat heated affair and Perez was sent off by referee Simon Hooper after he clashed with Brentford’s coaching staff in the second half.
Perez usually joins Pochettino at his press conferences to provide translation assistance but was absent after the match.
The Argentine head coach has now revealed that his assistant is set to return against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup last 16 on Wednesday.
‘He will be available tomorrow,’ Pochettino said on Tuesday. ‘Of course I think he deserved to be fined and to be punished.
‘He broke the rules. It’s true. I need to apologise to Brentford and their coaching staff because you cannot go into their area.
‘He knows he made a mistake. He wanted to win. He wanted to help the team and get the ball back and start to play.

‘The attitude of Jesus, I want this type of behaviour but he forget there was a new rule if you go into the other technical area you get sent off.’
Pochettino, speaking on Saturday, added: ‘We apologise to Brentford and apologise to the referee because he wanted to take the ball in front of Brentford.
‘It’s normal. They said, ‘What are you doing here?’ – and he said, ‘I want to take the ball’ – that’s it. Nothing more.’
