Tory MPs outraged by the BBC’s climbdown over Gary Lineker’s political tweets predict his “victory” will only hasten the demise of the licence fee, the Daily Express reports.
The paper asks whether the affair has “put a nail in the coffin of the licence fee”. It says former business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg has labelled the BBC’s funding model “past its sell-by date” and quotes Philip Davies, also a Tory MP, saying the row is the “start of the end” for the fee.
The front page also looks ahead to Wednesday’s budget.
