Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has shared an update on his cancer battle, revealing that he is ‘kinda doing alright’.
Dave publicly announced he was undergoing cancer treatment in May 2022, revealing he would be a ‘baldy Biker’ for a while due to the side effects of chemotherapy.
Noting that his treatment is still ongoing, the 65-year-old chef kicked off the new year by saying that having cancer is ‘something one learns to live with’.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast this week, the presenter elaborated: ‘[The treatment] is still ongoing but I’m kinda doing all right, it’s like many people, it’s something one learns to live with.’
Dave was discussing his upcoming show The Hairy Bikers Go Local which aired on BBC Two last night.
The new series was filmed prior to the TV star’s diagnosis and sees him and his Hairy Bikers co-star Si King explore the UK’s culinary landscape on a local level, an experience Dave called ‘joyous’.

Of his and Si’s new show, Dave said: ‘It was an idea that came together that a lot of chefs don’t know what’s on their own doorstep.
‘If you’ve got amazing suppliers that are there on your doorstep, then maybe they don’t know about it.’
He added: ‘So it’s a bit like speed dating, there’s Michelin-star chefs, people who run pubs, and I would say 80% of the time, they don’t know.’
Last month, Dave said he’s ‘over the moon’ that he’s ‘still breathing’ in the wake of his cancer diagnosis.
Appearing on Saturday Kitchen alongside Si ahead of Christmas, Dave seemed to be in good spirits and shared a sweet hug with his co-star.
Host Matt Tebutt said to Dave: ‘Very pleased to say that we’ve got the Hairy Bikers in the house,’ adding: ‘We’re very honoured, this is your first time out.’

Dave replied: ‘This is the first time out I’m over the moon, I’m still breathing,’ as studio guests loudly cheered.
In October, Si had shared an update with fans while Dave was undergoing chemotherapy, saying his friend was doing well and feeling more positive by the day.
Si said: ‘It’s going really well, he’s still in the trenches of his chemo and his treatment but all the numbers are going well and he’s stronger by the day and more positive by the day so he’s doing well.’

He then joked: ‘He’s a tough old boot you know, he’s from Barrow in Furness – he’s not going to give up easy! He certainly isn’t, and he’s doing great.’
Si also revealed how much the thousands of messages of well-wishes have meant to Dave and his family since he went public with his diagnosis, noting: ‘Everybody involved with the Bikers and certainly Dave and Lil his wife, and the kids – the amount of love that comes over social media is remarkable and it’s noticed and appreciated and we love it, so thank you.’
