Katherine and Jimmy were hoping to win thousands for charity (Picture: ITV)
Katherine Ryan’s plea to play it safe on Limitless was ignored by Jimmy Carr who instead decided to risk their massive £75,000 jackpot, which was being raised for charity.
The gameshow, hosted by Ant and Dec, offers contestant an endless money adder, which they must climb by answering numerical questions correctly.
But there’s of course a catch, to remain in the game they are not allowed to answer with a number over the correct answer, or run out of lives.
Players lose lives if they submit a number lower than the correct answer, with the amount of lives taken off being the difference between their answer and the correct one.
The two comics were resuming the game after Christmas edition of the show, with the Geordie duo asking them how much they would like to win.
While in theory, they could win millions, Jimmy, 50, implied he was after a more modest cash prize, claiming that contestants were sometimes ‘greedy.’

Katherine, 39, mocked shock at Jimmy not being ‘greedy’ in a hilarious jibe referring to his previous tax avoidance scheme.
After answering a couple of questions, the pals became stumped when then Geordie duo asked: ‘Easter Sunday can occur from any date from March 22 to which date in April?’
‘We can be under but not over,’ Katherine said to Jimmy, owing to the 16 lives they had left.

Admitteding she was now ‘panicked’, The Duchess star suggested they ‘cash out’, with Ant and Dec repeatedly telling them they can ‘cash out.’
However, Jimmy had other plans, and opted to continue playing, to the audible gasp of the audience, despite potentially loosing £75,000.
Unfortunately, they lost all their lives and the jackpot for charity, with Katherine quipping: ‘I didn’t know Easter could be so flaky.’

Shellshocked, Jimmy admitted he felt ‘so terrible’, adding: ‘I just feel awful.’
However, Ant and Dec revealed they would still be donating £1,000 to charity, with the pair quipping in a VT afterwards that at least they didn’t bankrupt ITV.
It comes weeks after Rylan Clark struggled to hide his devastation and hold back the tears after losing £250,000 on Limitless with David Walliams.
‘We’re so gutted, so gutted,’ said the TV personality, 33, after learning the bad news.
