Greg James said he wants to ‘offer solidarity’ to others living with a partner or loved one suffering from mental health problems.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ, 37, revealed he hopes he can get people to ‘start a dialogue’ with their partners in order to develop strategies and ways of coping with such problems.
Greg opened up about his relationship with his wife, author Bella Mackie and how her struggle with anxiety had affected him as a partner.
He described the ‘coping strategies’ the couple had developed, including both personal and more general methods, to navigate her mental health.
The presenter told The i: ‘I want to offer solidarity to anyone who lives with or loves a person who suffers with mental health problems.
‘Each person is of course different. The hope of this piece is to get you to start a dialogue with your favourite sad ghost and work out some strategies together.

‘But please remember to make some time for yourself, you’re not supposed to be anyone’s therapist.’
He added: ‘It’s also important to be prepared for there to be no solution sometimes. Life isn’t like that. Embrace that.
‘Our relationship is multi-faceted and that’s how it should be – I wouldn’t change anything about it. Or Bella.
‘It shouldn’t be brilliant all the time, crucially, it shouldn’t be awful all the time. But it should be full of love.’
Journalist and author of the best-selling novel How To Kill Your Family, Bella, 39, has previously opened up about her struggles with mental health.

Sharing his article online, the radio DJ added light to the seriousness of his article by tweeting: ‘I’ve written about some serious things and undercut them with a penis anecdote. Hope this helps though x [sic]’.
Following on from his initial message he penned: ‘Think of me as you enjoy your leftover pigs in blankets today.
‘And thanks for the nice comments that aren’t just about my d**k [sic]’.
His efforts were met with praise from fans who congratulated the star on speaking so candidly about the difficult subject.
One wrote: ‘This is wonderful, and honest, and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.’
Another noted: ‘This year has been a struggle, Greg, but you’ve made me laugh with this & I relate to this so much. My partner isn’t on Twitter, so I’m ok to say this is exactly what he does for me [sic]’.
Greg and Bella tied the knot in 2018 at an intimate September ceremony.
