Granit Xhaka caused a bit of embarrassment for BT Sport after Arsenal beat Chelsea on Sunday, having to apologise for swearing in a passionate post-match interview at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners won a hard-fought battle in west London, with a Gabriel goal the difference between the sides in a 1-0 victory.
It was a well deserved three points for Mikel Arteta’s side, clearly the better of the two teams and they return to the top of the Premier League as a result.
Xhaka was clearly pumped up after the game, lapping up the plaudits from the travelling fans at Stamford Bridge and forgetting that he was live on television for a second.
‘You see the atmosphere, it’s f***ing unbelievable. Sorry!’ Xhaka said on BT Sport.
‘From the start until the end I think we deserved to win today. We were much, much, much better team today.
‘We are so happy that everything is going well at the moment. We are keeping everything that the coach is telling us and these are the results.
‘After the season nobody asks you how you win in November, December or January. We are trying to get as many points as possible and then let’s see where we end.’
Arsenal go two points ahead of Manchester City with the win, with Pep Guardiola’s men beating Fulham 2-1 on Saturday with a late Erling Haaland penalty helping them keep pace with the Gunners.
Xhaka initially thought City were fortunate to win, although given there was a first half red card for Joao Cancelo, he changed his mind.
‘A little bit lucky for them, but if you play over 60 minutes with one less, I think you deserve to win.’
