AI: Google restricts Gemini chatbot election answers
Google has confirmed it is implementing restrictions on the types of election-related questions users can pose to its Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot Gemini.
In a blog post, it said the policy had been rolled out in India, which will hold elections starting in April.
The move comes as Google aims to mitigate potential controversies surrounding AI technology. Gemini is Google’s version of the popular chatbot ChatGPT and can respond to queries in text and generate images.
2024 marks a busy global political year, with elections in the US, UK, India and South Africa, to name a few.
There have been concerns around generative AI and potential misinformation which prompted governments globally to move to regulate the technology.
