Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc was struck twice by a fan wielding a corner flag (Twitter)
A goalkeeper was assaulted by a fan with a corner flag during a Turkish football match on Sunday.
Play was suspended in the first half of the Turkish first division derby between Goztepe and Altay after supporters were injured from flares and objects being thrown in the stands.
But as the players waited for medical staff to help injured supporters, a Goztepe fan ran onto the pitch and attacked Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc with a corner flag he had picked up.
Ozenc was hit twice by the fan, who broke the corner flag into pieces with his second blow.
The Goztepe supporter was then jumped on by security and taken away. Meanwhile, Ozenc was taken to hospital for treatment.
Referee Emre Kargin then called for both sets of players to return to the dressing room.
The game was then called off around 25 minutes later.
