A Glasgow chippie has taken a festive favourite and elevated it to a whole new level – in Scottish deep-fried foodie fashion.
Marini’s restaurant in Baillieston, just outside Glasgow, showed off the delicious new addition to its menu earlier this week – and it’s been a hit with fans.
The chippie has upgraded battered sausages to give them a fun festive twist.
This involves wrapping them with bacon to turn them into enormous pigs in blankets, before deep-frying them.
Named the Notorious P.I.B, these jumbo deep-fried pigs in blankets hit the menu on Wednesday, at £4.95 for a single jumbo or £6.95 for a supper box – all served with 2oz of gravy.
The shop also offers mini battered pigs in blankets (a scaled-down version of the big one), which come with a dipping pot of gravy or cranberry sauce.
Customers have been snapping up the chippie’s hybrid offering. So much so, Marini’s sold out of deep-fried pigs in blankets within a day.
Since then, employees have continually been posting on social media to alert customers when the Notorious P.I.Bs are back in stock.
Who knew the Christmas classic could get any better?
