The Guardian - Court tells ministers to give Johnson messages to inquiry

Summary of the front page

The Guardian dedicates part of its front page to the High Court ruling ordering ministers to hand over former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s WhatsApp messages, notebooks and diaries to the Covid inquiry. Government insiders have told the paper they would comply with the ruling but were concerned it would set a precedent for further demands for important documents and messages held by serving ministers.

The paper also features an admission from Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock that the country failed to listen to its eastern European allies about the threat from Russia. She says Berlin had resorted to what she calls “chequebook diplomacy”, a belief that political and economic integration would lead Russia to a democratic path.
