Germany will not send fighter jets to Ukraine
Germany will not send fighter jets to Ukraine and in response, Ukrainian leadership says it will now push for Western fourth-generation fighter jets such as the American F-16 after securing dozens of high-end battle tanks from NATO allies.
Ukraine won a huge boost for its troops as the United States and Germany announced plans to provide heavy tanks for Kyiv on Wednesday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has renewed his appeal for US-built F-16 fighter jets, less than a week after securing heavy tanks from Western backers.
But the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has drawn a red line over supplying Kyiv with combat aircraft.
The United States also confirmed they will not send any fighter jets to Ukraine, much to the dismay of the Ukrainian leadership.
