Former retirees’ club on Anglesey may be demolished to make way for ‘affordable’ housing

Residents in Holyhead are up in arms over plans to potentially demolish a beloved community venue to make way for new housing developments. The Senior Citizens Welfare Club, a hub for social gatherings and activities for the elderly in the area, is at risk of being torn down if a proposed housing plan is approved.

The club, located in the heart of Holyhead, has been a staple in the community for years, providing a place for seniors to come together, socialize, and participate in various events and programs. Many residents have expressed their dismay at the possibility of losing such an important gathering place.

Local officials are considering the housing development proposal, which would see the club demolished to make room for new homes. While the need for more housing in the area is evident, many argue that tearing down a cherished community venue is not the answer.

Members of the Senior Citizens Welfare Club have banded together to fight against the potential demolition, launching a campaign to save their beloved venue. They are calling on local authorities to reconsider the plans and find alternative solutions that would allow the club to remain in its current location.

As the debate continues to unfold, residents in Holyhead are left wondering what the future holds for the Senior Citizens Welfare Club. Will the venue be saved, or will it be demolished to make way for new housing developments? Only time will tell as the community waits anxiously for a decision to be made.
