Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) will be laid to rest in EastEnders in a truly unique fashion, with a funeral service that pays tribute to the hairdresser in a vibrant and colourful way.
The popular character, as fans know, has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, with scenes earlier this year seeing her old that she has less than six months to live.
The story took another tragic turn this week, with Lola’s mobility and speech impaired, with doctors confirming that her latest round of palliative chemotherapy didn’t work, meaning that she has just weeks left.
Emotions were running high, with Lola asking Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) to help her end her own life. Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), meanwhile, will take her on a special trip to the seaside on Friday (May 19) to create a magical memory.
The end is growing closer, however, with Lola’s heartbreaking death set to occur much sooner than fans expected, with EastEnders having been spotted filming funeral scenes at the end of last month.
The service in question will prove to be a very special one, which will aim to honour Lola’s personality and uniqueness, with the residents of Walford spotted on-location wearing vibrant colours to the church, as opposed to traditional mourning garb.

The coffin will also have Lola’s name inscribed on the side, with Jay, Ben (Max Bowden), Phil (Steve McFadden), Billy and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) among those chosen to carry their beloved Lola into the church.
Floral tributes for the character, one of which says ‘mum’, were seen during the shoot.
EastEnders will additionally mark Lola’s life with a special and jubilant celebration in the Square, titled Lolafest, with Metro.co.uk having seen pictures of what’s in store, with balloons aplenty.
