The wife of an assistant fire chief allegedly left about 50 pounds of human feces outside her local police department and refused to clean it up.
Mindy Jeanette Stephens, 46, was arrested on Thursday after putting ‘human s***’ in front of the Electra Police Department in Texas, authorities said.
An officer who was watching the station’s security cameras saw ‘someone putting something outside the front’ and went to investigate the matter, states an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime.
‘He went outside to see what was going on and discovered three, five-gallon buckets of what appeared to be human waste,’ the affidavit reads.
‘He saw a person in an all-white hazmat suit with a yellow mask walking back to a tan SUV with a trailer. He attempted to ask what they were doing and a female stated that the buckets were human s*** and she was dropping them off.
‘She then got in the vehicle and drove off.’
The officer then told a supervising lieutenant, who reviewed the security footage and apparently ‘recognized the voice as being Mindy Stephens’ voice’.
Police Chief Terry Wooten notified City Administrator Steve Bowlin about the incident and said that Stephens was the wife of the assistant fire chief. Bowlin, who also serves as a local firefighter, apparently told Wooten that he would order Stephens to ‘come pick up the buckets or she could face charges’.
But Stephens refused to do so, saying it was ‘not her problem’, according to the affidavit.
Stephens was charged with misdemeanor illegal dumping exceeding five pound and under 500 pounds. She was released after posting a $2,000 bond on Friday. Her motive was not immediately known.
It was not Stephens’ first run-in with law enforcement. In 2020, she was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly using a set of keys to attack a man. She pleaded guilty to the lesser assault charge and served a short sentence in jail.
