In recent weeks, the question of when Wednesday would be confirmed for season 2 after blowing Netflix audiences away has been on the lips of fans around the world.
At first, it was reported that the Addams Family spin-off could be leaving the streaming platform, before it was confirmed that nothing of the sort was taking place.
Now, Netflix appears to have reaffirmed that Wednesday – lead by the ever-rising star of Jenna Ortega – is not only safe and sound on the site, but coming back for more.
In a short teaser, Jenna’s deadpan character is sitting at her trusted typewriter, which she uses to write up her curious novel.
As suspense-filled music plays in the background, Wednesday types onto a piece of paper: ‘THE END’… before adding a question mark after a decided pause.
Her hands hover over the keyboard, before she appears to give a little grin.
To add even more excitement to the mysterious message, Netflix captioned the teaser: ‘???????’
Because what’s Wednesday without a little conundrum, eh?
Several fans immediately jumped to the conclusion that an announcement of a second season of Wednesday must be imminent, with one tweeting: ‘WE ALL KNOW JUST SAY IT! STOP PLAYING AROUND!!!’
‘Stop being so silly GIVE SEASON 2 ANNOUNCEMENT,’ someone else urged the streamer, while another said: ‘Season 2 definitely coming.’
Considering the first season of Wednesday only debuted in November 2022, we wouldn’t bank on season two coming out too soon.
However, confirmation that it’s been greenlit would at least be nice!
We don’t feel too worried about the show’s continuation, considering the extraordinarily high ratings it had among Netflix subscribers.
In its third week of release, Wednesday surpassed 1billion total hours viewed, becoming only the third release on the platform to achieve such a feat within its first 28 days.

It followed in the footsteps of Squid Game and the fourth season of Stranger Things by achieving this milestone.
While Wednesday fans are optimistic that they’re going to be seeing plenty more of their favourite characters, the cancellation of another Netflix series has recently stirred up huge levels of upset among audiences.
A petition to save drama 1899, made by Dark created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, has reached more than 63,000 signatures on Change.org.

The first season ended on a huge cliffhanger, which insinuated that there was plenty more of the story to come.
However in a statement, Jantje and Baran wrote: ‘With a heavy heart we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. ‘We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned.’
Wednesday is available to watch on Netflix.
