Warning: This article contains spoilers for season 11 episode 24 of The Walking Dead.
Sunday’s action-packed finale, titled ‘Rest in Peace’ marked the end of an era for TWD fans everywhere, and although we have a number of revivals to look forward to, viewers were struggling to make it through the last hurdle.
After episode 23 showed our favourites in grave danger, many were questioning who wouldn’t make it, especially considering the show is notorious for killing iconic characters.
Over the last few installments, Rosita (Christian Serratos) has been on a mission to save her daughter Coco, who was being held in a children’s home in the Commonwealth’s lower ward.
However, as she tries to run away with her daughter and the rest of the kidnapped kids, Rosita, Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) find themselves surrounded by vengeful walkers, and the only way for them to escape was by climbing a wall pipe to safety.
Although it looked as though the trio managed to get away unharmed, Rosita later showed her zombie-bitten shoulder to Eugene in a harrowing yet emotional scene.

Her last moment was spent with Eugene at her bedside, as she said: ‘I’m glad it was you in the end,’ before drifting off.
Safe to say this particular scene didn’t sit well with fans, with one writing: ‘Walking dead, thanks for the tears….even in the series finale you took Rosita, just so I can shed tears again.’
‘The tears I shed for Rosita. My poor girlie deserves better,’ another added.
‘No need to kill off Rosita at the final hurdle,’ a third remarked.
Reflecting on the emotional moment, actress Christian revealed that Rosita’s tragic end was actually her idea.
‘I didn’t know that they were going to be so forthcoming about that,’ she told Entertainment Weekly.
I’m so happy I get to talk about it. I’ve been on the show for so long, and in watching the show, one of the things that I really loved about it was that it made me emotional.
‘It tugging at your heartstrings was something that I really fell in love with about the show. And I just really wanted people to have that emotional experience in our finale, especially.
‘I think a show that was about possibly losing your loved ones, you want to lose somebody at the end. I know it sounds so dark, but I feel like the show, we owed it to the fans to break their hearts one last time, if that makes sense.’
