Farmers take over London
Central london is gridlocked and earlier the A4 was moving at a snail’s pace between the Hammersmith flyover and Kensington. The Locals in Chiswick stood by the roads cheering the farmers on.
The farmers have parked up their tractors along Whitehall, with the stretch of vehicles going back as far as Trafalgar Square. Four tanks have also been spotted at the protest.
Protesters can be seen holding Union Jack flags and displaying banners in support of British farming.
Today’s tractor rally has been organised by Save British Farming and has seen hundreds of farmers arrive in Whitehall.
Politicians turned up to take pictures
Politicians have jumped on this opportunity to gain favour with voters. The usual suspects are have arrived with Nigel Farage forcing his way on stage and making a speech, he left shortly after.
The Protest organiser Liz Webster said the Reform UK leader was not invited to the event, accusing him of “jumping on the bandwagon”.

Kemi Badenoch the Leader of the Conservative Party also arrived in Westminster and managed to posed for some pictures and then left.
Why are farmers protesting?
From April 2026, inherited agricultural assets worth more than £1m, which were previously exempt, will be liable to the tax at 20%, which is half the usual rate.
They are determined to protest against the inheritance tax on family farms. An tax that has been applied to to curb the tax avoidance by the wealthy, to avoid inheritance tax, that is inherently hurting the average farmer.
