Europe’s leading industrial firms are splitting in their approach to AI: Schneider Electric and Siemens are doubling down on software, while ABB focuses on physical equipment.

Power & Politics – Crisis in Italy as the South runs out of Fuel

Italy has been rocked by a series of protests that turned violent on Saturday, October17, by demonstrations against the high cost of living—protests marked by clashes with the police and the destruction of public property. Violent confrontations took place in Milan, Turin, Bologna and the south of Italy where petrol pumps have run out of Diesel.

The protests are spiralling into chaos, with violent clashes, vandalism, and businesses getting trashed. Large crowds of young Italians have created tense scenes outside Milan’s famous cathedral and the far-right is suggesting this is an immigrant issue, whilst all the protesters are Italian.

The divergence signals deepening competition among European conglomerates over technological leadership and investment appeal.
